Chandni Chowk- My First Love!!

Whenever I enter the Chandni Chowk streets, I feel like its a different world (especially if you are coming from a city of malls). This place is a mixture of religion, food, chaos, history, modernity, tradition and commerce. People moving fast here and there in narrow lanes.

The food capital of Delhi, this place is a paradise for any foodie!! Be it samosas, jalebis's, paranthe, chaat or gol-gappe, you would find the best of all these here.
Necessity is the mother of all invention. And this man here did exactly the same! He laid the pineapple peels as a mat for displaying the fruit!!!

My Chandni Chowk visit always starts with a prayer at the "Sis Ganj Gurudwara" which is one of the oldest Gurudwara's in Delhi.

The purpose of visit to Chandni Chowk this time was to shop from the Kinari Bazaar. Kinari Bazaar is a long narrow lane in Chandni Chowk full of shops that sell kinari's, or what we call dress borders. Any designers dream place, the kinari bazaar is the biggest wholesale market for kinari's in India. I always find here designers with their fancy I-Pads trying to find the best possible motif or border for their outfits!! Once you see these little shops in the tiny lanes with their enormous collection of borders and embellishments, you will never want to buy something from a boutique or designer, you`d want to design something yourself

Endless Variety of Kinari's!!! :)

Bling is so my thing!!!
And going to Kinari Bazaar is never complete for me without paying a visit to this small shop "Hazari Lal Jain Khurchan Wala". This man makes the best possible Ras-Malai and Khurchan!! I'v seen people who hated ras-malai fall in love with this dessert after tasting what he makes!!

The next stop in Chandni Chowk is the 'Gali Paranthe Wali'. Being a Punjabi I love parantha's, but what you get here is something totally out of the world. The menu here is more than the usual "aloo or gobi ka parantha". The shops here serve "Bhindi ka Parantha", "Baingan Ka Parantha" "Mirch Ka Parantha" and what not!!! I've seen many foreigners get confused in trying to decide upon the best "Flavour For The Indian Flat bread" (That is how one of them was describing the parantha!!!)
My Favourite has always been the "Mattar ka Parantha"!!

Also the Natraj Bhalle Wala!!! One of the oldest shop in Chandni Chowk, it sells Bhalle and Tikki that are so delicious that you would always compare them with any bhalle or tikki you eat anywhere in the world!!!

Chandni Chowk originally meaning moonlit square or market, is one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi, now in central north Delhi, India. Built in 17th century by the great Muslim Emperor of India, Shah Jahan and designed by his daughter Jahan Ara, the market was once divided by canals to reflect moonlight, now closed, yet it still remains one of India's largest whole sale markets.
And the rest of my visit you can see from the pictures I clicked there! I'm crazy for this place and can click endlessly here!!!!
